After nearly twenty chapters of heroes getting thrashed around and continuously beat down, Deku has finally made landfall within Shigaraki’s “cage!” With Bakugo on death’s door, Mirio herself not too far off, and all the other heroes not looking too great, it leaves a question on everyone’s mind, how will Deku react to this?
With chapter 367 officially out, it’s safe to say Horikoshi has answered that question! And boy, we can’t wait to get into it! So without further ado, let’s get right into My Hero Academia chapter 367, titled, “Deku Vs AFO!”
Deku Finally Arrives!
Before we get into everything that goes down in this chapter, there’s a huge spoiler warning for those who have not yet read the chapter. If you’d like to check it out yourself before reading on, I’d suggest you check out the “Where To Read” section at the bottom of this article. There you can find exactly where to read My Hero Academia officially and for free!
Now with that out of the way, let’s get into the chapter! As we mentioned already, Deku has finally made it to the floating U.A. base where Shigaraki is being restrained or at least attempted to be restrained. After about 20 chapters, the hero has made it to where he needs to be, and it’s all thanks to the US pilots who gave him a ride despite orders to retreat. Good on them!
In typical protagonist fashion, Deku blitzes into the battlefield and sends Shigaraki/AFO flying before turning his attention to his allies. He apologizes for being late and asks if everyone is okay, only to see that no, everyone is not OK. In fact, it’s actually the complete opposite.
The scene itself could be best described with the infamous Community fire pizza meme.
Upon his arrival Deku turns around to check in with his fellow heroes to see how well they’ve fared without him. What he sees instead has probably scared him for life.
Laying lifeless with blood stains all over is Izuku’s closest friend and classmate Bakugo; right beside him is a bloodstained photo card of All Might.
Not too far off from him is Best Jeanist who is crumpled over and seems to be trembling. And spread out throughout the rest of the battlefield are Suneater, Nejire Chan, and Mirko, all of whom are heavily injured.
Although we readers know that Edgeshot is currently inside Bakugo’s body trying to save his life, to Deku, it just looks like his classmate is dead, and Edgeshot is nowhere to be found.
Perhaps having suffered the same fate, with his body strung out elsewhere. So, of course after seeing all this, Deku loses it. With Shigaraki taunting him even further, the hero goes full rage mode and is about to launch himself at the villain. Thankfully, the last-standing hero, Lemillion jumps in.
Immediately filling Deku in on Bakugo and Edgeshot’s whole situation and informing him that everyone is still alive so far begins to calm him down. But quoting All Might’s words on how a hero should be idealistic is what does the trick. Forcing Deku to remember all that’s at stake and control himself.
Now back under complete control, Deku apologizes before turning to Shigaraki/AFO, the faces of all past users of OFA silhouetting him in the background. And with that, this week’s chapter of My Hero Academia comes to an exciting end!
Hopefully, next week’s chapter will see the big fight that once and for all ends the battle between AFO and OFA! Be sure to check in early next week as we’ll have our full spoiler breakdown and more ready for what’s sure to be a thrilling chapter!
