Episode 1 Summary
In this episode of Demon Slayer, the story begins with a significant event at the Infinity Fortress. Muzan Kibutsuji, the primary antagonist, has called together his Upper Moons for a rare meeting after the death of Gyutaro and Daki. This gathering of the powerful demons is the first in a century, highlighting the gravity of Gyutaro’s death and its impact on Muzan’s plans.
Muzan, visibly enraged by the recent events, reprimands his subordinates for their failures. This episode also introduces the audience to Kokushibou, the number one-ranked demon among the Upper Moons. With an air of mystery surrounding him, Kokushibou quickly becomes a fan favorite as viewers eagerly anticipate learning more about this enigmatic character.
Meanwhile, Tanjiro, the main protagonist, is shown recuperating after his previous battles. Knowing that he needs to have his sword repaired, he prepares to travel to the secret Swordsmith Village. To maintain the village’s hidden location, Tanjiro is blindfolded and transported to the village by a member of the Demon Slayer Corps.
Upon arriving at the Swordsmith Village, Tanjiro reunites with Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love Pillar, and Genya Shinazugawa, a fellow Demon Slayer who shares a complicated history with his older brother, the Wind Pillar Sanemi. Additionally, there is a brief appearance by Muichiro Tokito, the Mist Pillar, who plays a crucial role in later events.
