Shangri-La Frontier Synopsis
“Shangri-La Frontier” occurs in the modern world where VR games are popular, and the modern generation of children abandons retro games.
In this world lies Rakuro, a retro game player who finds no excitement in playing new games and only loves to play old games.
He loves the feeling of winning, which is why he opts for such easy games, which don’t have that much to offer in terms of difficulty.
But as everything comes to an end, Rakurou starts to feel bored by playing these games again and again.
One day, a friend recommended Rakurou, the best-selling VR game “Shangri-La Frontier.” Rakurou bought the game in temptation and logged in as his usual game name of “Sunraku.”
But this game is unlike any other, as it holds some secrets not everyone can unveil.
So, Sunraku takes the challenge and invests time in this game, as he finally starts to feel an adrenaline rush from a VR game!
Why is the “Shangri-La Frontier” Anticipated?
“Shangri-La Frontier” is adapted from the manga series of the same name, illustrated by Ryusuke Fuji and written by Katarina.
This was Katarina’s first work, but Ryusuke Fuji might ring a bell in some people’s minds. He was also the illustrator for Attack on Titan’s spin-off manga series “Attack on Titan: Lost Girls.”
The series is also acclaimed as one of the best in the manga industry because it won the Best Shounen Manga Series in the Kodansha Awards 2023. So, the hype for this anime series is legit!
Currently, 14 volumes have been published for this series, of which 12 are officially translated into English.
The surprising thing about this manga series is that it started as a webcomic series and gained enough popularity that it is now being adapted into an anime series.
