The long-awaited Volume 38 of Yoshihiro Togashi’s “HUNTER×HUNTER” is set to hit shelves on September 4, 2024, as confirmed by listings on Shueisha’s S-Manga online bookstore and Amazon Japan.

This release marks the end of a nearly two-year drought for fans, with the last volume (37) having been published on November 4, 2022.

Volume 38 will compile chapters 391 to 400, which have already been published in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine.

While some fans might express disappointment at the lack of new content in this volume, there’s reason for optimism on the horizon.

New Manga Chapters Likely To Publish Soon

Historically, the announcement of a new volume’s release date often heralds the publication of fresh chapters. Many manga series follow a pattern where new installments begin appearing a few weeks prior to a volume’s release date.

This trend suggests a strong possibility that “HUNTER×HUNTER” will resume serialization in August with Chapter 401. Togashi sensei has been diligently keeping fans informed about the manga’s progress through social media (X) updates.

Based on these communications, it appears that at least 15 new chapters are in various stages of development, from planning to final inking.

It’s worth noting that Shueisha previously announced that upcoming “HUNTER×HUNTER” chapters will be released on a schedule different from the traditional weekly format. This adjustment is welcome news, allowing Togashi sensei to work at his own pace, potentially reducing the risk of burnout and subsequent hiatuses.

Hunter x Hunter Previous Hiatuses

“HUNTER×HUNTER” has become as notorious for its frequent breaks as it is beloved for its amazing storytelling. The manga first began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1998 and has experienced numerous extended hiatuses over its 26-year history.

The most recent hiatus began in December 2022, following a brief return to publication earlier that year. Prior to that, the manga had been on a four-year break from 2018 to 2022. These interruptions have been primarily attributed to Togashi sensei’s ongoing health issues.

Despite these challenges, the manga has maintained a devoted fanbase, with each return greeted by enthusiastic readers eager to dive back into the complex world of Hunters and Nen abilities.
