The Fall season is upon us in a couple of weeks and anime fans are looking for what to watch next season. A popular Japanese website Anime! Anime! Recently conducted a survey, asking fans, “What are the top 10 most anticipated anime of the Fall (October) 2021?”. More than 2,000 people responded to the survey and here are the results.
Before announcing the result, it should be pointed out that Demon Slayer is not a part of this list. The release date for Demon Slayer season 2 have not been revealed yet.
10 – Mieruko Chan
Mieruko Chan is an upcoming horror comedy anime which is scheduled to be released on Oct 3rd.
Mieruko is an ordinary girl who suddenly gets an unwanted ability to see monster creatures surrounding them. Instead of running away or confronting them, she gathers all her courage to ignore them. Watch her day to day life as she tries to ignore these creatures and live her life normally.
9 – Komi Can’t Communicate
Komi can’t communicate is upcoming comedy and slice of life anime. It is scheduled to be released on Oct 7th.
Timid Tadano is a total wallflower, and that’s just the way he likes it. But all that changes when he finds himself alone in a classroom on the first day of high school with the legendary Komi. He quickly realizes she isn’t aloof—she’s just super awkward. Now he’s made it his mission to help her on her quest to make 100 friends! (Source: Viz)
8 – The Night Beyond the Tricornered Window
The Night Beyond the Tricornered Window is an upcoming boys love anime. It is scheduled to be released on October 3rd. The series has also received a live action movie in January 2021.
The story follows a bookstore owner who sees supernatural happenings through a triangle window. He begins working together with an exorcist to solve mysteries. (Source: ANN)
7 – Ranking of Kings
Ranking of Kings is an upcoming fantasy and comedy anime. It is animated by Studio Wit (same studio as Attack on Titan S1-3). The first episode is scheduled to be released on October 15.
Bojji is a deaf, powerless prince who cannot even wield a children’s sword. As the firstborn son, he strives hard and dreams of becoming the world’s greatest king. However, people mutter about him behind his back as “a good-for-nothing prince” and “no way he can be king.” Bojji is able to make his first ever friend, “Kage”—a literal shadow on the ground who somehow understands Bojji well. 6 – Yuki Yuna Is A Hero
Yuki Yuna is a Hero is a slice of life anime, which will be coming back for the third season of the series. It is scheduled for Oct 2nd.
5 – Lupin III: Part 6
Lupin the third is an adventure and comedy anime, which will release its sixth part on Oct 10.
Arsene Lupin III is the grandson of the master thief Arsene Lupin. With his cohorts Daisuke Jigen and Goemon Ishikawa XIII and his love interest Fujiko Mine, he pulls off the greatest heists of all time while always escaping the grasp of Inspector Koichi Zenigata. (Source: ANN)
4 – Blue Period
Blue Period is a drama and slice of life anime. It is scheduled to be released on Sept 25.
Yatora is the perfect high school student, with good grades and lots of friends. It’s an effortless performance, and, ultimately…a dull one. 3 – Mushoku Tensei Part 2
Mushoku Tensei is a fantasy anime which received an overwhelming response during the part 1 premiere. The second part of Mushoku Tensei anime is scheduled to be released on Oct 4.
In case you are unfamiliar with this series, it follows the story of a Jobless 34 year old man who gets reincarnated into another world as a baby. He is determined to not repeat the same mistakes in his new life and decides to turn his life around and live with no regrets.
2 – World Trigger Season 3
World Trigger is a sci-fi and supernatural anime series. The third season is scheduled to be released on October 10.
The earth is under constant threat from Neighbors, invincible monsters from another dimension that destroy our way of life. At least we have the elite warriors of Border, who co-opt alien technology to fight back! Our hero Osamu Mikumo may not be the best agent, but he’ll do whatever it takes to defend life on Earth as we know it. 1 – The Vampire Dies In No Time
The Vampire Dies in no Time is a comedy and supernatural anime. It is scheduled to be released on October 4.
Vampires are said to have many weaknesses such as garlic, crosses, and sunlight. Game-loving vampire lord Draluc just so happens to be weak to… everything. He dies, turning into a pile of ash, at the slightest shock. When his castle is destroyed, he teams up with Vampire Hunter Ronaldo, much to the other’s chagrin. Despite their differences, they must try to work together to defend themselves from rogue vampires, Ronaldo’s murderous editor, investigators, and more—with Draluc dying continuously along the way. Surprisingly, many of the most anticipated anime worldwide like “Eighty-six part 2” and Takt Op Destiny didn’t make it to the top 10 as the most anticipated anime of fall 2021 in Japan.
