It seems Reggie and Megumi’s fight isn’t as sealed of a deal as we thought he was, (like Gojo). After dropping a LITERAL elephant on his enemy Megumi’s showdown with Reggie isn’t over just yet!

Chapter 171 Recap
Before we jump into spoilers for chapter 172 let’s do a quick recap of what went down in the most recent chapter of the series, titled, ‘Tokyo No.1, Colony 11.’
The chapter kicked off with Reggie staring in shock as he got hit in Megumi’s powerful “incomplete” domain. However, after a quick hand-to-hand melee, Reggie discovers a way to fight back against Megumi’s “Chimera Shadow Garden.” Realizing everything below his domain is a part of Megumi’s shadows Reggie creates three cars with his receipt technique. Since Megumi’s shadow storing technique requires him to take on the weight of everything he carries this works on Megumi weighing him down 2.4 tonnes.
Reggie delighted by his discovery begins to look down on Megumi strolling about casually. He mentions how he’ll just keep adding weight until Megumi collapses under his own weight. It’s here when the student sorcerer gives us one of his signature “crazy smiles” as he tells Reggie, “there’s a shadow above you too!” He then proceeds to drop a shadow elephant on Reggie as the chapter ends.
Chapter 172 Spoilers
Now that we are all caught up, let’s dive right into chapter 172. Warning, however, some raws for the upcoming chapter are already out so there are confirmed spoilers below, you have been warned.
Chapter 172 seems to open with Reggie finding himself drowning. As the sorcerer tries to swim out he looks down to see Megumi holding on to him, realizing that his enemy still has the weight of three cars on him Reggie releases his technique to save himself. As he comes to after escaping Reggie remembers how he ended up in that situation. After escaping into the shadows Megumi released his domain causing Reggie to fall through the gym floor and into the pool below.
Megumi mentions how Reggie’s technique is useless now that he is wet since the ink from the receipts has been washed away. Reggie responds to this by telling Megumi that he has figured out his technique, telling his enemy that since he hasn’t used multiple at once Megumi most likely can only use one shikigami at a time. Megumi agrees to this and confirms that he can only use one shikigami. Of course, Reggie knows this isn’t the case and knows that the student sorcerer is bluffing, regardless of this the two both rush at each other to continue their fight.
In their battle Megumi only uses one of his dog shikigami’s, purposefully allowing it to be thrown around until Reggie thinks that he has gained the upper hand. It’s then that Megumi summons his second divine dog and strikes through Reggie with it. On the last page of the chapter, we see Reggie supposedly die as he tells Megumi that all sorcerers are liars.

Release Date
Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 172 is currently expected to release Sunday, January 23rd, 2022. As of the writing of this article, there have been no announced delays to the upcoming chapter. Meaning that the official English release of JJK will most likely stick to schedule and release on Sunday as usual.
