Mappa Trending After The 2nd Episode of Takt op. Destiny

The second episode of Takt op. Destiny came out yesterday. Previously it was confirmed that the 2nd episode will be animated solely by Mappa studio. The fans were eagerly waiting for the episode, but it looks like not everyone is satisfied with the quality of animation.

Some fans claim that Mappa studio outsourced a large part of animation for 2nd episode to another studio called VOLN. Another reason is the number of directors for episode 2. The end credit revealed that at least 10 animation directors were working on this episode. Keep in mind that Studio Madhouse animated the 1st episode, which had only 1 animation director.

Having numerous animation directors working simultaneously on the same project is generally considered a bad sign for the production schedule. However, it is still too early to judge about the production quality just from 2 episodes. We have already seen some anime which starts off great, but the quality of animation decreased gradually.

Synopsis

One day, a black meteorite fell upon the world, and the world totally changed. The meteorite produced grotesque monsters called D2, and they started spreading. D2 very quickly banned all music, which was the only thing able to overcome them. However, some people resisted D2. These are young women that have the power of music, the “Musicart.” These young women possess “scores” that can defeat monsters. And there are also people who lead these women, the Conductor.

The anime is set in the United States in the year 2047, which fell into ruin thanks to the D2. Takt, a Conductor, is partnered with a Musicart named Unmei. Takt yearns for music to be returned to the world, and Unmei wishes to destroy the D2. Their objective is to go to New York.
