Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse Gets A Spin-off Manga

Spider-Man, one of the most iconic superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, seems poised to swing into the realm of manga.

The Spider-man animated film Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is getting a sequel named ‘Across the Spider Verse’ that will be released on June 2, 2023.

To celebrate the release of the follow-up to the highly commercially successful animated film, Shounen Jump is releasing a new spin-off manga for ‘Spider-man: Across the Spider-Verse.’

Across The Spider-Verse Spin-off Manga

The spin-off manga for ‘Spider-man: Across the Spider-Verse’ will be penned by the authors of My Hero Academia’s spin-off, “VIGILANTE -My Hero Academia Illegals,” Hideyuki Furuhashi and Betten Court.

The manga is set to release on the 20th of June, 2023, on the Shuiesha’s Shounen Jump+ app, in collaboration with Sony Entertainment, 18 days following the release of the film. The spin-off manga will be titled “Spider-man: Octopus Girl.”

Spider-man: Octopus Girl will follow the story of one of the most iconic villains of the Spider-man franchise, Mad Scientist Doctor Octopus, who fell into a coma. After recovering, Doctor Octopus is incarnated in a Japanese middle school girl named Otoha Okutamiya.

Spider-man: Into The Spider-Verse won an Oscar in 2018 and became one of the highest-grossing animated films ever. The director of the film, Bob Persichetti, revealed that the film was inspired and achieved by the help of Japanese animators. 

Spider-man: Across The Spider-Verse will be the sequel to the CG animated film of 2018, and the opening song for the Japanese Dub of the film will be performed by none other than Lisa, titled “REALiZE” and will have a significant shout-out to the Toei Animation’s version of spiderman.
