The anime adaptation of Spy x Family is taking over the internet, and as expected many artists showed their affection for the series by drawing Spy x Family characters. A few days ago, an artist from Twitter shared a sneak peek for his upcoming art of aged up Anya, which caused a lot of controversy.
Most of the fans requested the artist to not post this art on Twitter, as Anya is like 5 years old, and this type of art does not suit her. However, the artist @sakimichanart posted Anya’s aged up art anyways. As expected, he received a lot of criticism from fans in his Tweet’s replies and quoted Tweets.
Some of the comments from the post include:
- I see lots of people saying things like she’s gonna be this age one day so no problem. Well. She’s five. Someone saw a 5yo girl in anime and thought, yeah, I was gonna age her up to sexualize her. Don’t you see the problem right here? Even if it isn’t a real person.
- Sakimi really saw a 5 year old in an anime and really thought “let’s age her up and make her sexy” and people are defending it.
- Anya is 5, not 18. Regardless of if she is real or not is completely irrelevant because the potential for breeding harmful thoughts and behaviors is still very real.
- Honestly, despite all the hate, it’s getting, I enjoy this art. People don’t know how to appreciate really good art like this.
- I hope that people understand that it is a representation of the character being of legal age and distinguish reality from fiction, for my part, what an incredible work Sakimi.
The Spy x Family anime is based on a manga series, written and illustrated by Tatsuya Endo, began publishing the manga through Shueisha ‘s Shonen Jump Plus website in March 2019. The anime is being produced by the Wit and CloverWorks studio, and it is listed with 25 episodes. The first 12 episodes will be released in this season while the remaining 13 ep will be released in October.
Spy x Family is a story about a spy who has a mission that requires a certain requirement and that is to have a family as a disguise. His hired family seems to be normal; however, he didn’t realize that both his daughter and fake wife are hiding a secret. His daughter being a mind reader and his wife as an assassin will make the story feel intense and at the same time, comedic.
