TenPuru (Temple) is an ecchi anime series aired during Summer 2023. The series completed its serialization with 12 episodes in total.
Now fans want to know if this series will get a season 2. So, here is everything we know so far!
Just like most “Ecchi” genre anime series, Temple was also not able to attract the attention of the mainstream anime community but was received well among the Ecchi fans.
“TenPuru” follows the story of Akagami, who wishes to be a monk as soon as he feels worldly desires.
But to his surprise, the temple where he is assigned to start his training as a monk comprises voluptuous beauties, so this task might become more complicated than Akagami imagined!
“Gekkou Productions” is the animation studio behind this anime series. This studio is relatively new and doesn’t have many anime series. The only other series it has animated include “My One-Hit Kill Sister.”
Is TenPuru Sequel Possible?
“TenPuru Season 2” has not been officially announced yet. However, there is enough source material available for a second season.
This anime series is based on a manga called “TenPuru: No One Can Live on Loneliness.” It is written and illustrated by Kimitake Yoshioka and has released nine volumes so far.
The first four volumes of the manga were adapted in the first season of TenPuru. Most 12-episode anime adaptations adapt three episodes per volume. So, there is still enough material left for a sequel adaptation.
The manga series received an English Serialization from “Kodansha” as it partnered with “Bookwalker.” So, this series is only available in digital form. You can buy it on the official website of Bookwalker. So far, eight volumes have been released in English.
If we are to estimate a release date for the unannounced sequel of TenPuru, that would also be pretty far. As the studio of this anime, Gekkou is pretty new, and funding will be the main problem they will likely face. TenPuru season 2 potential release date is Fall 2024.

Did TenPuru Anime Increased Manga Sales?
Since TenPuru manga was only released in digital form, and you can only access it in English on Bookwalker, its success can be estimated from the data from the Bookwalker website.
Unfortunately, the Tenpuru series wasn’t in the Top 50 Highest Selling Manga Series in September on Bookwalker.
This means that the anime adaptation wasn’t able to increase the sales of its source, which is the primary purpose of giving a manga/light novel an anime adaptation.
How Did The First Season Do Popularity Wise?
As discussed earlier, TenPuru was only popular among “Ecchi” fans, so it didn’t get much recognition from mainstream anime fans. The series managed to bag average ratings from different rating platforms:

- 7.4 / 10 on IMDB
- 6.6 / 10 on AniList
TenPuru also couldn’t secure any acrylic or modeled figurines, which is another way to know how popular a series is. The series managed to stay in 22nd place at its best performance during Anitrenz’s Weekly Popularity Polls.
The series wasn’t included in the highest-rated anime series for the Summer of 2023.
The Blu-ray & DVD volumes of TenPuru season 1 will be released as two box sets from October 25, 2023, to November 22, 2023. Good Blu-ray/DVD sales will increase the chance of TenPuru getting a second season.

As this is an Ecchi series, fewer streaming services offer it on their platform. So, the two leading platforms streaming this anime series are Ani-One Asia (YouTube channel) in Asia and Crunchyroll in North America and Europe.
