This Will Be the First Anime To Upload Entire Episodes on X (Formerly Twitter)

The highly anticipated anime series ‘Kaiju no 8’ has released a trailer and broadcast information during Jump Festa 2024.

Kaiju no 8‘, based on the manga of the same name by Naoya Matsumoto, is making history by releasing full episodes on X (a platform formerly known as Twitter). The anime will air on TV Tokyo and be available for streaming on Crunchyroll. Additionally, the series will be simultaneously available worldwide on X.

This marks the first time an anime series is releasing full episodes on a social media platform, coinciding with its Japanese broadcast.

A similar strategy was seen with Apple TV’s ‘Silo,’ which streamed its first episode for free on X in June 2023, garnering an amazing response.

The anime will be directed by Shigeyuki Miya and Tomomi Kamiya, with a series composition and screenplay by Ichiro Okouchi. Tetsuya Nishio will handle character design and chief animation direction, while Mahiro Maeda will design the kaiju.

The music will be composed by Yuta Bandoh, and the kaiju design and works will be done by Studio khara. The animation production will be handled by Production I.G. Kaiju no. 8 is one of the most popular manga on Shonen Jump Plus, with over 50 million views as of December 2023.

Kafka hopes to one day keep his pact with his childhood friend Mina to join the Japan Defense Force and fight by her side. But while she’s out neutralizing kaiju as Third Division captain, Kafka is stuck cleaning up the aftermath of her battles. When a sudden rule change makes Kafka eligible for the Defense Force, he decides to try out for the squad once more. There’s just one problem—he’s made the Defense Force’s neutralization list under the code name Kaiju No. 8.
