It’s been almost a decade since Tokyo Ghoul’s anime adaptation started airing in July 2014. Despite the huge popularity of the series, most of the fans were left unsatisfied with how the story concluded in the anime, deviating from the original source material which in this case is manga.
Thanks to a new leak though, fans might be able to see their favorite characters of the series coming back sooner than later.
The trend of anime remakes seems to be making a comeback at this point.
Just a while ago, it was announced that the highly popular ongoing anime, One Piece will be getting a remake from Wit Studio, backed up by Netflix. Now the rumors are Tokyo Ghoul fan’s prayers will be answered as the said series is next to get the same treatment.
The online rumours of Tokyo Ghoul anime getting a remake started circulating thanks to the anime’s upcoming 10th anniversary and the rumours were fueled by a post on X by Manga Mogura.
Manga Moguroa on X (formerly Twitter) wrote that a recent web domain has been registered related to Tokyo Ghoul which might be indicating that the relevant studios have planned some kind of a project for Tokyo Ghoul.

Please note that nothing is confirmed and I'm not sure what such a project/event would actually entail. If you see/hear anything interesting, let me know please, thank… pic.twitter.com/hw6fy1ZlLq
A domain registration related to the anime project is certainly a good hint considering that many new anime register web domains before announcing the anime adaptation. However it is still uncertain what kind of project fans will be getting.
Whether the upcoming project will be a complete remake like Wit Studio’s One Piece or just some new episodes related to the series just like Pierrot Studio has done for Naruto. Whatever the case may be, the new rumors have certainly awakened the fandom of Tokyo Ghoul.
Fans have long hoped for a more faithful adaptation of the manga, as the original anime adaptation faced criticism for its pacing and deviations from the source material, particularly in the later seasons.
A remake would provide an opportunity to rectify these issues and deliver a more satisfying experience for both long-time fans and newcomers to the series.
Tokyo Ghoul, created by Sui Ishida, tells the dark and thrilling story of Ken Kaneki, a college student who becomes a half-ghoul after a fateful encounter. The manga explores themes of identity, morality, and the blurred lines between humans and ghouls in a society where the two coexist.
The potential for a fresh take on this iconic series has the fandom buzzing with excitement, and many are already speculating about which studio might take on the project and how closely it will adhere to the original manga.
As the anime’s 10th anniversary approaches, all eyes are on the franchise, and fans are holding their breath for any official announcements that could confirm their hopes and dreams of seeing their beloved characters return to the screen in a new and improved form.
