Black Clover Accused of Copying Naruto Again, Sparking Controversy with Latest Chapter Release

Naruto and Black Clover are two of the world’s most popular anime and manga franchises. While Naruto’s manga series ended a while back, Black Clover is still ongoing, and it seems that it has not been immune to controversy. Black Clover’s author, Yuki Tabata, has been accused of taking too much inspiration from Naruto for the past few years now. Some fans have pointed out similarities between the two series, such as Captain Yami’s backstory, which resembles Itachi Uchiha’s backstory from Naruto.

A new chapter of Black Clover was released recently, and Yuki Tabata is again in the spotlight. Without revealing too much and spoiling the manga for anime-only fans, a certain character from the series has awakened a new power that looks suspiciously similar to a combination of Uchiha’s signature Sharingan and Otsutsuki Hagoromo.

As soon as spoiler images from the new chapter leaked online, fans quickly noticed the similarities and took to social media to express their disbelief. Many fans flooded Twitter with memes of Black Clover copying Naruto, while others still refuse to acknowledge the similarities. However, regardless of which side of the argument they fall on, it is clear that Yuki Tabata’s latest release has once again reignited the controversy around his alleged plagiarism of Naruto. Only time will tell whether this will impact the popularity of the Black Clover franchise.

Copy Allegations

One Twitter user even took the time and decided to compile every little similarity between Naruto and Black Clover.

Did Black Clover Really Copied Naruto?

Most of the mangaka take inspiration from each other’s work. Naruto did not originally introduce the eye symbol as a show of power. Many other series, like Hunter x Hunter, have the similar concept in its series. Next is the similar design of the eye, but Naruto series also took inspiration for that design. The symbol is called Tomoe (巴), a Japanese word with several meanings.

In Japanese mythology, Tomoe refers to a comma-shaped symbol that resembles a comma or a half-moon, and is commonly used in Japanese art and decoration.

The above design of Tomoe clearly shows that Naruto did not originally introduce the “Sharingan” design. Therefore, the accusations of Black Clover copying Naruto do not hold any reasonable basis.

While there is still no news about when Black Clover anime series will return for season 5, a non-canon movie series is already on the way. Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King, originally scheduled to release on March 3rd, was delayed due to some production issues. The new release date for the film is now June 16, and it will be exclusively available on Netflix.

Despite the ongoing controversy, Black Clover remains one of the world’s most popular manga and anime franchises, with a large and dedicated fanbase. The series follows Asta, a young boy who dreams of becoming the Wizard King, the highest-ranking wizard in the Clover Kingdom. Along with his friend and rival Yuno, Asta sets out on a journey to become a powerful wizard and protect his kingdom from various threats.
