Black Clover is a Japanese Manga created by Yuki Tabata. It began serialization in 2015, and 32 volumes have come out since then. Black Clover’s first adaptation was an OVA (original video animation), which was released in 2017 by Xebex Zwei. It took a few more months before Pierrot took the mantle and started a complete anime TV adaptation. An anime film is also set to premiere in 2023.
In North America, the English dubbed version of the manga is licensed by Viz Media. Funimation and Crunchyroll license the anime.
The series follows a young orphan Asta, raised in an orphanage alongside Yuno, another fellow orphan. Everyone in the kingdom is born with magical abilities or mana. However, Asta possesses no magic, so he finds strength in training himself physically. On the other hand, Yuno is a prodigy with vast magical powers. They both have one goal, to be the next Wizard King, a title only second to the King. Yuno receives a four-leaf grimoire, showing his genius and joining the Golden Dawn. Fate has something else for Asta, who gets a mysterious five-leaf grimoire with sinister abilities.
