Netflix, on their official YouTube anime channel, released the first four minutes of the upcoming Black Clover movie. Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King movie is set to release on June 16, 2023, on Netflix.
The film’s first four minutes show the fight between the previous Wizard King and the captains of that era, including Julius, Yami, and others. The clip has been praised by fans, many of who commented that this is the best that Black Clover anime has ever looked.

The film focuses on Conrad Leto, a respected wizard King before Julius. However, he was sealed away alongside the national treasure “The imperial sword” by Julius. The film will focus on his revival and his objective to rule over the Kingdom.
Conrad Leto wants to use The Imperial Sword to resurrect the three most powerful previous wizard kings, including “Edward Avalanche,” “Princia Funnybunny,” and “Jester Garandaros” so that they can help him rule over the country.
Julius is not in the picture to stop this formidable foe, so the duty now lies on Asta and Black Bulls to defeat Conrad Leto and save the kingdom.
Is Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King Sequel to anime?
Black Clover Sword of the Wizard King film takes place during the first time skip. It is not a direct sequel to the anime.
Is the movie canon? Yes, Black Clover Sword of the Wizard King is canon to anime. However, it will not change the story in the anime and manga. The manga creator, Yuki Tabata, is overseeing the movie’s storyline.
