Bungou Stray Dogs Season 5 Release Date & Trailer Revealed

July 2023 will probably be one of the best months in recent years for anime, with new and continuing animes like Jujutsu Kaisen, Rurouni Kenshin, Rent A Girlfriend, Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War, and now the release date for Bungou Stray Dogs season 5 has been confirmed for July as well.

Coming off a hit season 4 that was released earlier this year, it’s very rare that a new season will air so soon.

However, it makes sense when you remember that Season 3 aired in 2019, which gave the production team 4 years to animate both seasons. Season 3 was shorter, with only 12 episodes as well.

Bungou Stray Dogs Season 5 is set to air on July 12th, 2023. A new trailer for season 5 accompanied the release date announcement.

The opening song will be titled “Tetsu no Ori” by GRANRODEO. The band has worked on Bungou Stray Dogs many times in the past, performing the opening on Season 1 with 12 million views, the opening song of Season 3, and the Bungo Stray Dogs: Dead Apple movie as well. They’ve also worked on Kuroko no Basket, Seven Deadly Sins, and Baki: Hanma.

The ending will be titled “Kiseki” by Luck Life. They also have worked previously on Bungou Stray Dogs, performing the ending song of Season 1, Season 2, 3, and 4. It seems that the studio in charge is using the previous staff to make this the most memorable season.

The studio behind this season is Studio Bones. A pillar in the anime industry, Bones are behind some of the most popular anime ever; My Hero Academia, Noragami, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and Cowboy Bepop.

Bungo Stray Dogs Season 5 Plot

Season 4 saw the Armed Detective Agency on the hunt, framed by the group The Decay Of Angels led by Fyodor, the main villain in Season 3.

The Agency is being hunted by the elite squad Hunting Dogs, and the leader of the Agency Fukuzawa, Dazai, Kunikida, and Yosano are apprehended and charged as terrorists, and the rest are on the run.

Season 5 will be about the remaining members of the Agency trying to clear their name and stopping the plot of the Decay of Angels. Season 5 will also feature the Port Mafia and the Agency teaming up once again with Akutagawa and Atsushi teaming up once again.

Unlike other seasons of Bungou Stray Dogs, which streamed on Netflix, Amazon Prime and Crunchyroll, Season 5 will air exclusively on Crunchyroll.
