The first episode of Chainsaw Man is titled “Dog and Chainsaw”, and Studio Mappa has released the preview trailer for the 1st episode on YouTube. According to the anime series director, the first episode will have a dark, heavy, and serious atmosphere.

The story is about a young man named Denji who just wants to be happy with the woman he loves. But to pay off his debts, he has to kill devils with the help of his pet devil, Pochita. After a string of bad things happen, Denji gets connected to his pet devil, which gives him the power to turn his body parts into a Chainsaw.

The Chainsaw Man anime series will have 12 episodes. Each episode will have a unique ending song performed by a different music artist.

Ryu Nakayama, who also directed episode 19 of Jujutsu Kaisen, is in charge of the Chainsaw Man anime at Mappa Studio (known for animating Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan). Hiroshi Seko is writing the script for the movie. He worked on the movies Mob Psycho and Jujutsu Kaisen as well.

Chainsaw Man anime is based on the manga of the same name, written and drawn by Tatsuki Fujimoto, who began publishing the manga in Weekly Shonen Jump from Dec 2018 to Dec 2020. The second part of the manga series began in Shonen Jump+ in July 2022. The manga series won a Harvey Award in the “Best Manga” category in 2021 and 2022. As of October 2022, more than 16 million copies of the manga had been sold.
