Jujutsu Kaisen Anime Director Is Leaving Mappa Studio

Studio Mappa has been in the news almost every other month. Sometimes it is for bad reasons like employees complaining about overwork, the other time for good reasons like opening up a new studio for CGI department. Mappa is again a topic of discussion in the anime community because of an important employee leaving the studio.

Sunghoo Park is a popular Japanese director who has worked for Mappa Studio on projects like Jujutsu Kaisen and The God of Highschool anime. In March 2021, Sunghoo Park founded a new animation studio called ‘E&H Production’, which currently has 10 employees. The production studio recently released a recruitment information revealing that they are looking for new talent.

The company’s introduction also stated that they want to challenge original animation works and new production processes, not limited to traditional animation production, and intends to shoot in the fields of game engines, VR, and real shooting.

Sunghoo directed both season 1 and the Jujutsu Kaisen movie 0. Jujutsu Kaisen fans are worried because it is still unclear whether Sunghoo Park will direct the upcoming Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 or not. It should be pointed out that Sunghoo was hired as a freelancer by Mappa, and not as a permanent employee.

If Mappa studio doesn’t hire the same director for season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen, do you think it will a huge impact on the anime? Let us know your opinion in the comment section.
