Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Revealed to Have a Lot of “Anime-only” Scenes

Jujutsu Kaisen took the Fall Season of 2020 by storm, and after a successful Season 1, it expanded its reach by collaborating with popular games PUBG and Mobile Legends. The release of the Jujutsu Kaisen movie further propelled the series’ manga sales. Despite the original director’s departure, the much-anticipated Season 2 was announced, and now, an exciting revelation about the sequel will surely get fans buzzing!

At Anime Japan 2023, the voice actors of Jujutsu Kaisen took part in a panel discussion about the highly anticipated Season 2. Yuichi Nakamura, who voices Gojo Satoru, shared that the new Jujutsu Kaisen season would contain an abundance of exclusive anime-only content. Twitter user @king_jin_woo provided translations of the voice actors’ conversation during the event:

According to Yuichi Nakamura, the whole voice actor cast of Jujutsu Kaisen has already started doing the recording for Season 2. The voice actor of Gojo Satoru told his audience how he loves to compare anime to manga and that there will be more “anime-only” content in the upcoming season. He told the manga fans of Jujutsu Kaisen to enjoy the improvised direction of the new season. He added that not only the battle scenes of the episodes will be flashy, but other parts of each episode will be improvised.

Why will there be more “anime-only” scenes?

The rationale behind incorporating more anime-only scenes is to extend the screen time for the arcs adapted in Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen. The anime will cover two arcs: “Hidden Inventory/Premature Death Arc” and “Shibuya Incident Arc.” The “Hidden Inventory/Premature Death Arc,” spanning only 14 chapters, takes us back 11 years to when Gojo Satoru and Geto Suguru were still students at Jujutsu High School.

With the arc containing just 14 chapters, stretching it to fill the first part of the anime may prove challenging, especially since Season 2 is planned to air in two parts. As a solution, the creators will introduce anime-exclusive scenes to ensure that the content covers Part 1 of Season 2 adequately.

Nakamura on Voicing a Young Gojo Satoru

In addition to this announcement, the voice actor of Gojo Satoru also explained his experience in voicing a younger Gojo Satoru. He told the audience that while voicing the younger Gojo, he had to remember that young Gojo Satoru, as a character, is in the process of becoming the Gojo Satoru everyone knows of. But he is still confident yet inexperienced, so he tried to voice Gojo by making that sense of superiority crystal clear for the character!

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Revealed to Have a Lot of "Anime-only" Scenes

Jujutsu Kaisen is returning after almost two years since Season 1 aired. Part 1 will air in the Summer Season of 2023, and the release date of Part 2 of Season 2 hasn’t been announced yet. As told earlier, the first part will adapt the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death Arc, and the second part will adapt the Shibuya Incident Arc. The manga of Jujutsu Kaisen is also supposed to end this year.
