The Mappa Stage 2023 has concluded, and several announcements have been made. One of them was about an original movie that’s in the works.
Alice and Therese’s Illusion Factory that was announced to be in production in November 2021 at the Mappa Stage 2021, has finally revealed more information.
What Is The Movie About?
The movie is about Masamune, a third-year middle school student who lives in a town where all exits have been closed because of an explosion at a steel mill.
The explosion made the time stop. In order to stop the world from being destroyed, the residents have to maintain a daily unchanging routine.
One day Masumune’s classmate Mutsumi guides him to the fifth furnace of the steel mill where they meet a mute girl who has the appearance of a wolf. The destruction of the world begins when the love between boys and girls blossoms.

Alice and Therese’s Illusion Factory film is set to release on September 15, 2023, and the trailer has been released on the Mappa’s YouTube channel.
More information on the Worldwide release via cinemas or streaming services will be revealed later.
The director will be Mari Okada, a veteran in the industry who has worked on numerous anime such as Toradora, Fate/Stay Night, Darker than Black, and many more.
Assisting Mari Okada will be assistant director Tadashi Hiramatsu, who has worked on Jujutsu Kaisen 0, Banana Fish, and Evangelion Movie.

Masamune will be voiced by Junya Enoki, the voice actor of Itadori from JJK, and Mutsumi will be voiced by Reina Ueda, who’s worked on Demon Slayer, MHA, Fruits Basket, and more. Itsumi will be voiced by Misaki Kuno, who’s worked on 7 Deadly Sins as Hawk.
