NieR: Automata is a fan-favorite game developed by Platinum Games and released in 2017. The game had a cult-like fan base and is no stranger to accolades. Nier: Automata game was announced to be adapted into an anime in 2022.
A-1 Pictures, a renowned anime studio known for one of the most famous anime like Sword Art Online and Love is War series, is animating NieR: Automata. The anime premiered in the Winter Season of 2023.
However, The anime was announced to be indefinitely delayed due to the impact of the pandemic. The studio kept quiet about the production for four months until now.

Episode 9 Release Date
The anime aired up to episode 8 in the winter season and went on an indefinite hiatus. On 23rd June 2023, the official Twitter account of NieR: Automata anime updated the anime’s situation.
NieR: Automata is returning in July and will continue where it left off, releasing four back-to-back episodes (episodes 9-12). NieR: Automata episode 9 will be released on July 23, 2023, at 9:30 AM Pacific Time.
Studio A-1 Pictures will be returning for the anime and will finally put an end to the long-lasting delays and conclude the anime.
What Happened Previously?
The anime will directly continue the events of the story from episode 8. If you’re unfamiliar with the events of episode 8 or forgot about them (no one has a brain capacity like Senku from Dr. Stone), here is a short recap.
Episode 8 of NieR: Automata Ver 1.1a starts with the Commander assigning a mission to 9S and 2B to take down A2, but the information about why A2 betrayed YoRHa will be kept confidential.
The episode ends on a cliffhanger as 9S tries to chase what he thinks is A2 but ends up in a surreal space and is attacked by an unidentified object.
As the writers of every episode change, we cannot predict through the game events what will happen in the upcoming episodes.

Nier: Automata is originally a game developed by Platinumgames and published by Square Enix.
The plot of NieR takes place in the far future, where a proxy war is taking place between androids and machines. The story follows two combat androids, 2B and 9S, who entangled themselves in the conflict against the Machine lifeforms.
The story is set in a post-apocalyptic world in the year 11945, where humanity has left the planet Earth and the aliens have invaded. The androids were developed by humans to fight against aliens’ machines, causing the conflict on such a large scale that it started a whole war.
