One Piece and Attack on Titan Are Among the Most “Dropped” Manga Series by Fans

When we think of the most popular manga series of the recent era, surely One Piece and Attack on Titan are among the most-sold manga series worldwide. This is why a recent report on the “most dropped manga series” from the home of anime, Japan, surprised manga fans. The list included some of the biggest names of the recent era.

Recently, a Popular Japanese website, All About News released a list of the “most dropped manga series by fans” based on a poll conducted by them between 17 October to 8 November this year. The list, shockingly, included some of the most popular manga series. Let’s discuss the top three and see why people dropped these series.

2nd Place (Tie): Attack on Titan

This manga started serialization in 2009 and ended in 2021. Hajime Isayama was the author and illustrator of this series. It is the most popular manga on MAL as it is #1 on MAL’s most popular manga series list. The last season of “Attack on Titan” will start airing at the start of 2023. It has a total of 34 volumes, physically printed in both English and Japanese.

Attack on Titan Synopsis:

2nd Place (Tie): Jujutsu Kaisen

This manga started serialization in 2018 and is still publishing. Gege Akutami is both the author and illustrator of this series. Jujutsu Kaisen is #14 on MAL based on popularity. The first anime adaptation of this series was an instant hit and Season 2 is currently in production. Now, it has 21 volumes, with 20 volumes available in physical form in Japanese and 17 volumes physically available in English.

1st Place: One Piece

One Piece manga started serialization in 1997 and is still airing. Eiichiro Oda is both the illustrator and author of this manga series. It is one of the most popular manga series, as it is #3 on MAL’s most popular manga series list.

And it is the only manga series which holds a world record for most volumes sold worldwide. The anime has 1040 episodes, and a new episode arrives every Sunday. The manga presently has 104 volumes, with all of them available in Japanese and the first 100 volumes available in English physically.

From the middle, the amount of illustrations in each frame increased and many gag elements were included, and I lost the desire to read

One Piece Synopsis:

Now, Luffy promises Shanks that one day, he will meet him when he becomes a great pirate and makes a pirate crew like none other. So starts the journey of our young pirate.
