The time gap between Re: Zero’s first and second seasons spanned five years, leaving fans concerned about when they might see the continuation of the series. In the meantime, the franchise has kept fans engaged with spin-offs and other projects.

A recent leak from Weibo suggests that the third season could be in production, although no official confirmation has yet been provided. This leak comes from a reliable source that has previously shared accurate information about the anime industry. Moreover, the leak indicates that more details about a new video game and the adaptation of the fifth story arc to manga will be announced soon.

The leak also hints that the premiere of Re: Zero’s third season might be scheduled for this year, barring any production delays. Official confirmation and further details are expected to be revealed during the AnimeJapan 2023 event, which takes place this weekend.

The third season of Re: Zero is expected to start with the “Stars that Engrave History” arc, which is the fifth official arc of the light novel series. The arc begins in volume 16 and spans around a dozen chapters, providing ample material for a 12-13 episode season.

There is no news about which studio might be responsible for the animation of the third season. However, fans speculate that White Fox studio, known for its work on Steins; Gate and Akame Ga Kill, will continue to work on the project, as they have been responsible for the previous two seasons and OVAs.

While fans eagerly await news about the third season, the Re: Zero franchise continues to flourish with the release of the thirty-fourth volume and the introduction of the eighth story arc in the light novel series. Tappei Nagatsuki originally began publishing the novels independently through the Shousetsuka ni Narou service in April 2012. The Kadokawa publishing house later picked it up for print publication with illustrations by Shinichirou Ootsuka in January 2014.
