Romantic Comedy ‘My Life As Inukai’s Dog’ Anime Announced For 2023

Furukawa Itsutsuse’s romantic-comedy manga series, My Life As Inukai-san’s Dog (Inuhiro; Romaji: Inu ni Nattara Suki na Hito ni Hirowareta) will be adapted into an anime series. The release date has been set for 2023, however, the cast and the studio have not been revealed yet.

The story is told from the perspective of a dog. One day, our protagonist wakes up, and finds himself as a pet of a beautiful girl, Inukai-San, who loves her dog.

The series author commented on his work getting an anime adaptation:

Because the main work is a low angle from a dog’s perspective, I think you can enjoy the feeling of being kept by a girl. The heroine’s thoughts are not described like a first-person perspective, so how will the studio show the angles and voice? I’m looking forward to feeling it!

The manga series is serialized in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine R, and up to 4 volumes have been published. More than 25 chapters are available in English translation.

In addition, a celebratory illustration of the heroines of Kaiko Inukai, Mike Nekotani, and Usagi Tsukishiro has been revealed.

Currently, there is a trend of unique stories like these getting an anime adaptation. For example, Reincarnated as a Pig is getting anime, Reincarnated as a sword is getting an anime, and My step sister is my girlfriend is also getting an anime adaptation.
