With a massive following like that of “Boruto,” differing opinions were inevitable when the time-skip design of the Boruto cast was unveiled in chapter 81. Fans have been vocal about their thoughts, with some even offering their versions to “fix” the design, particularly Sakura’s design.
Caution: Minor spoilers from Chapter 81 of the Boruto manga are discussed in this article.
If you haven’t kept up, the “Boruto” manga series recently returned after a significant hiatus. In the new chapter, a time-skip occurs, and almost four years have passed. Characters we’re used to seeing have matured, not just physically but emotionally as well.
“Boruto Part 2” (also known as “Two Blue Vortex”) lacks the “Comedy” tag that was part of its predecessor series, “Boruto.” This hints at what the series might have in store for fans.
Currently, Boruto is on the run after being accused of murdering Konoha’s Hokage, Naruto. Only a few villagers, including Sarada, are aware that all memories in the village have been altered by Eida.
Fans Take Issue with Sarada’s Design
With so many new developments in the manga, the new character design of Sarada has caught the attention of many readers. In chapter 81, we see a full character reveal of Sarada, featuring short hair, earrings, a fashionable jacket, and high heels.
This bold design choice has not gone unnoticed, with many fans criticizing the high heels and stylish jacket as impractical for battle, especially for ninjas. Some even expressed that short hair doesn’t suit her.
Several “Boruto” fans have taken matters into their own hands, creating improved versions of Sarada’s character design. A popular post went viral on the “Boruto” subreddit, where a user shared Sarada’s redesigned appearance with the title, “Redesigned Sarada based on what people disliked about it.”
In the fan redesign, Sarada sports longer hair, slightly longer shorts, and wears the jacket properly, with the choker and earrings removed. The post received high praise on the subreddit, reflecting the approval of many fans.
Many other fans have also tried their hand at redesigning the character.
