Top 10 Most Disliked Naruto Characters According To Japan

Naruto has been a phenomenon since it started, and still to this day, after almost five years since its climax, it is considered a masterpiece in every Otaku’s list. But, some characters in this series failed to make a good impression on the fans. So, how do we know who is the most disliked character from this series?

To get that answer, we have to consult fans from the land of the rising sun, the home of anime, Japan. A famous Japanese website, Suki Kira, which gets more than 7 million visitors per month, has a unique method where you can vote for the characters, not only those you like but those you dislike. The list is called “unpopularity ranking”, and you can vote for real-life people and fictional characters. One of the website’s famous lists is “Chainsaw Man” most disliked characters.

Here are the top 10 most disliked Naruto characters according to Japan.

10. Shisui Uchiha

Shisui Uchiha was the partner of Itachi Uchiha in the Anbu Black Ops and the first person who awoke the Mangekyo Sharingan. He was an overpowered character who was always happy, and Itachi saw him as an idol he wanted to follow his whole life. Unfortunately, he committed suicide as Danzo could destroy the world by using his eyes, so he gave his eyes to Itachi and died.

Shisui is not the character that comes to mind when thinking of a character disliked by fans, however, he still made it to this list. Fans might dislike him because of the burden he left with Itachi, as he left his eyes on Itachi, which made Itachi a target of Danzo now, due to which Itachi was forced to kill his whole clan in a single night.

9. Karin Uzumaki

Karin is the underling of Orochimaru and part of the organization named “Hebi”, which Sasuke established after leaving Akatsuki. She has always been so head-over-heal for Sasuke that she even forgave him for trying to stab her. She is aggressive with everyone except Sasuke.

Fans might dislike Karin because of her immature nature and habits. She has strange mood swings from being too sweet to aggressive, making her annoying. She only knows how to fawn over Sasuke, and despite her aggressive nature, she is completely useless.

8. Sarutobi Asuma

Asuma was the son of the Third Hokage and the teacher of Team 10 (Shikamaru, Choji, Ino). He was a former member of the twelve guardian ninjas and had a unique chakra nature, the Wind Chakra. He was very fond of playing Shogi (Japanese Chess) and often did it with his student, Shikamaru.

The main reason why fans dislike Asuma is his fragile nature. Despite having such a unique chakra nature, he was weak in front of strong villains. Hidan (the Akatsuki member who killed him) was so influential in front of him that Asuma couldn’t even lay a finger on him.

7. Hiruzen Sarutobi

Often known as the “God of Shinobi“, Hiruzen Sarutobi was the Third Hokage and the disciple of the first two Hokages. He was also the teacher of the “Three Legendary Sannin” (Jiraiya, Tsunade, Orochimaru) when they were young and was killed by his disciple, Orochimaru, as he was too weak in his old age.

Hiruzen is disliked because of his ignorant attitude towards the young Naruto Uzumaki. Kushina (Naruto’s Mother) left her child in Hiruzen’s hands when she was dying, but he took the responsibility and never performed it correctly.

6. Nagato Uzumaki

Nagato was one of the founding members of Akatsuki (along with Yahiko and Konan) and also the person who controlled Pain in disguise. He wanted to make a peaceful world with Akatsuki’s help, but with his friend Yahiko’s death, he became Pain and started to destroy everything that was a slight threat to his version of the world.

The majority of fans disliked Nagato as he was responsible for killing Jiraiya, one of the most loved characters in the series. One wrong decision led to another, and Nagato kept doing bad things.

5. Orochimaru

Orochimaru was part of the “Three Legendary Sannin” and the person who manipulated Sasuke to leave the village when he was young. Orochimaru is a villain-like character from the start, as he is responsible for the deaths of most characters.

Orochimaru is one of the most disliked characters in the series because of his selfish and power-hungry nature. Nothing was in his consideration when he was in his pursuit of power. Orochimaru even killed his teacher, the Third Hokage, without guilt or remorse.

4. Zabuza Momochi

Often known as “The Demon of the Mist“, Zabuza is one of “The Seven Swordsmen of the Mist” and the first major villain of the Naruto Franchise. Zabuza has been a dark person from the start as he always faced betrayal from his partners, so his only partner at the end was Haku, a young boy.

Zabuza was disliked because he manipulated an innocent Haku into a bloodthirsty beast who would do anything Zabuza said. Although he apologized to Haku at death’s door, fans still have a hard time forgiving him for such a grave crime!

3. Masashi Kishimoto

Masashi Kishimoto is the original writer of the Naruto Franchise, who started writing Naruto in 1999. Currently, he is working on the sequel series of Naruto’s “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” alongside Ikemoto Mikio.

Kishimoto making the top 3rd on this list could be quite surprising for many fans outside of Japan. One of the reasons why he might be disliked is because he killed so many fan-favourite characters like Obito and Itachi. Some might dislike Masashi Kishimoto for making Naruto a boring character in the latter half of the season, or because Kishimoto is bad at writing female characters.

2. Kabuto Yakushi

Kabuto is the right-hand man of Orochimaru and a spy. He served Orochimaru his whole life but left him when he got fed up with helping Orochimaru. Kabuto started the Fourth Great Ninja War, as he got mastery over the Reincarnation Jutsu.

The reason most people dislike Kabuto is his arrogant attitude and sneaky nature. Even when he appeared in Naruto Classic, he was a sly spy who was always full of himself. Also, he was too hungry for power and started a whole War, which worsened his image.

1. Sakura Haruno

Sakura is part of Team 7 (alongside Naruto and Sasuke) and the disciple of Tsunade, one of the Legendary Sannin. Sakura has always had an “inner Sakura” which expressed her genuine emotions as she hid her reactions in public. She is head-over-heels for Sasuke.

It is to no one’s surprise, that Sakura is the most disliked character in the Naruto Franchise. At the start of the series, she was a burden to her team, doing nothing significant to help them. She had aggressive nature. Once she made fun of Naruto for having no parents. In the 2nd half of the series, Sakura became quite skilled and useful, however, to this day she is still considered the most disliked Naruto character in Japan.
