Back in October 2019, it was announced that Mushoku Tensei light novel series written by Rifujin na Magonote, will be getting an anime series. It was also announced that a new studio is being formed just for the sole purpose of animating Mushoku Tensei.
A promotional video was released on October 18, 2019, to commemorate the announcement of a Mushoku Tensei anime announcement. However, since the series wasn’t as popular in the anime community at that time, this first trailer was pretty much ignored by many fans.
This teaser video is directed by Shingo Fujii, and animation supervision by Ryo Imamura. The animation quality isn’t top notch, but this goes to show you how early the production team started working on, before eventually releasing the first season in 2021.
A new key visual was released for the Mushoku Tensei 2nd Cour (or 2nd season), introducing 2 new characters which will play a significant role in the later part of the series. It was also announced that Mushoku Tensei will receive an OVA on March 16, featuring Eris’s solo adventure. The animation director also teased that a feature film is also possible on the demand of fans.
The series tells the story of a 35 year old who gets reincarnated in another world. He lived his previous life full of regrets but he vows to not repeat the same mistakes again, and live his life to the fullest.
