Chainsaw Man Anime Reportedly Getting Season 2 & A Movie

According to leaks, Chainsaw Man manga is not only getting a second season, but a movie adaptation is also in the works.

The first season of Chainsaw Man aired in October 2022. Despite the fan’s speculations, Studio Mappa did not confirm season 2 right after the first season finale. In the anime industry, popular anime series will likely announce the sequel anime production right after the current season ends.

But that was not the case for Chainsaw Man, and it is understandable because Mappa has been busy with numerous anime projects. To name a few, Vinland Saga, Jujutsu Kaisen season 2, and Attack on Titan.

However, a recent leak shared by multiple anime leakers suggests that Chainsaw Man is getting a season 2 and a movie. The rumor originates from Wiebo, a Chinese social media platform and was shared by @WSJ_manga:

It is worth mentioning that no official source has confirmed Chainsaw Man season 2 or a movie. Many fans were expecting that Mappa Stage 2023 would provide some information about Chainsaw Man’s upcoming season; unfortunately, that wasn’t the case either.

What to Expect From Chainsaw Man Season 2?

The first season of the series revolved around Denji getting experienced as a Devil hunter, but the most amazing manga arcs are yet to be adapted in the anime.

First season adapted only the first 38 chapters of the manga. Season 2 will most likely adapt chapter 39 to chapter 70. These chapters cover the Bomb Girl Arc and the International Assassins Arc.

Of course, the series’s main characters, Denji, Aki, Makima, and Power, will be returning for season 2. However, there will be a new addition to the main characters as well. Reze, whose glimpses were seen at the final moments of season 1, will reportedly play a significant role.

If the rumours are true about the season 2 and a movie, it will be interesting to see which part of the manga will be adapted in the film or the Mappa decides to go another route and make a non canon film.
