Deadpool Uses Chainsaw Man Technique In His Recent Comic

Anime’s influence has become hard to ignore, with references popping up in movies like Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and even Marvel comics.

In the latest example, Deadpool gives a nod to the hit series Chainsaw Man in his most recent comic book appearance.

For those who may not know, Chainsaw Man is a manga series by Tatsuki Fujimoto that has been adapted into a popular anime. The story takes place in a world where people can make deals with demons to use their powers.

The main character, as the title suggests, has the abilities of the Chainsaw Devil. The anime, made by studio MAPPA, has a huge fan base and is known for its intense action, gore and unique characters.

One of those characters is Aki Hayakawa, who can summon the Fox Devil by pulling a cord on his wrist. This makes a fox-like devil come out of his hand and eat everything in its way. The manga doesn’t show exactly how Aki first made this deal with the Fox Devil, but it’s still a cool power.

In Deadpool’s comic, issue 1 of his 2024 series, he copies Aki’s signature move while fighting a villain. It goes like this:

Deadpool: “You ever seen Chainsaw Man?” Antagonist: “What the hell is that?” Deadpool: “Never mind, you would probably hate it.”

Right after that, Deadpool’s pet, which looks a lot like the Fox Devil from Chainsaw Man, shows up and eats the bad guy. This funny moment shows how much anime is starting to affect comics and other media.

Deadpool’s reference to Chainsaw Man is just one example of him breaking the fourth wall. Known for his meta-awareness and ability to address the audience directly, Deadpool often makes pop culture references and comments on the fact that he’s in a comic book.

If you want to check out Chainsaw Man for yourself, you can watch it on Crunchyroll. There’s also a sequel movie called “Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc” in the works, so now’s a good time to get into the series.
