During the “Kimetsu no Utage: Yuukaku-hen” event, a new trailer was revealed for the anime Kimetsu no Yaiba: Katanakaji no Sato-hen (Kimetsu no Yaiba: Swordsmith Village Arc), the third season of the project. The video does not yet confirm a scheduled release date, but it shows “Pillar of Mist” Muichiro Tokito and “Pillar of Love” Mitsuri Kanroji on stage.
The second season premiered in December 2021 and had a total of eleven episodes, or eighteen if the seven from the anime Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Ressha-hen are considered, which together make up the “Second Season Project”. The platforms Crunchyroll and Funimation had streaming rights for the first 2 seasons.
Season 3 Synopsis
Tanjiro goes to swordsmith village in order to repair his sword as Hotaru Haganezuka is tired of repairing it for Tanjiro. Upon arrival, he meets love hashira, Mitsuri Kanroji, and the mist hasira, Muichiro Tokito. While Tanjiro is waiting for his sword to be repaired, enemies close in on the village.
For the first time in over 100 years, the upper ranks of Muzan Kibutsuji’s Twelve Kizuki are not full (all thanks to Tanjiro and his friends). Angered, Muzan dispatches the survivors on another mission.
Production Team
The production team includes, Haruo Sotozaki (Tales of Zestiria the X, Tales of Symphonia the Animation) is directing series at Ufotable Studios (Fate/Zero, Kara no Kyoukai, Katsugeki: Touken Ranbu). Akira Matsushima (Maria-sama ga Miteru, Tales of Zestiria the X) is jointly designing the characters with Miyuki Sato, Yoko Kajiyama, and Mika Kikuchi, who served as supporting character designers in the first season and the film. Yuki Kajiura (Sword Art Online, Fate/Zero, Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica) and Gou Shiina (Tales of Zestiria the X, Juuni Taisen, God Eater) are composing the soundtrack.
Season 3 Release Date
The demon Slayer franchise has not announced the season 3 release date yet, however, fans can expect to see Tanjiro back in action in 2023.
If you can’t wait for the anime to return, you can always turn to read the manga series. The first 2 seasons adapted till chapter 97, so fans could start reading from chapter 98.
