Fire Force Author Recommends A New Manga To Fire Force Fans

As we all know Fire Force sadly came to a close recently. The series was great and the final chapter gave, most of its characters the satisfying ending they deserved. But now that the series has been over for quite some time, it’s time to get out with the old and in with the new.

Why You Should Be Checking Out This Fire Force Replacement Manga | Anime Senpai

With the manga industry always pumping out new series to replace the ones that have ended, it’s no surprise that this is exactly what Weekly Shonen Magazine has done. Now that Fire Force has officially concluded, the magazine needs something new to fill the spot that Atsushi Ōkubo left behind. And the series to do looks to be, Gachi Akuta!

Synopsis

Gachi Akuta follows Rudo, a young boy living in the slums who makes a living off of reselling toys and other things he’s scavenged from the garbage and fixed up. However, his entire life changes one day when he sees his loving foster father, Rugto murdered in front of his eyes. Falsely accused of the crime Rudo is sentenced to the abyss to die. Somehow he survives and is now determined to take his revenge out on everyone who did this to him, including Rugto’s killer!

Atsushi Ōkubo Recommends

As we all know with the ending of Fire Force came the retirement of the legendary Atsushi Ōkubo. Though there have been hints that he may return to making manga one day for now he’s retired. In the meantime, Atsushi Ōkubo himself recommends that you check out the new manga series Gachi Akuta!

That’s right! Using his platform as a fan favourite mangaka Ōkubo tweeted this out on his official Twitter account when the manga first dropped!

A new serialization of Unko-chan Koto Ura Nakei has begun at Atsushiya! She was a kid who loved Soul Eater when she was a kid! My legitimate successor beyond Okubo! If you like my manga, you should definitely like it! Please take a look! Because it’s really cool! I’m completely defeated! Gachiakuta! nice to meet you!

Ōkubo even goes as far as to say that Kei Urana, the mangaka behind Gachi Akuta, is his successor! One thing is for sure the two seem to be very close. This makes sense since Urana actually worked as one of Atsushi Ōkubo’s editors at a point!

If you aren’t convinced to check out the series at this point, don’t worry there’s still much more to convince you with!

Story Has Potential

As of the writing of this article, Gachi Akuta currently has six chapters out. And in those six chapters alone readers around the world were able to tell that this series has some serious potential. Don’t take my word for it, just take a peek at what other readers think of it! The series currently holds a 7.73 rating on MyAnimeList and has a member count of 4,305 people. For a manga that, quite literally, started a couple weeks ago that’s a lot!

If you still need more convincing, just look at the actual story that has all these people hooked! Gachi Akuta is a compelling revenge story with lots of mysteries to answer. Like who really killed Rugto? And why? That alone is a plot most can get behind. And without getting into any spoilers, everything surrounding the abyss and the system of “Jinki” seems rather interesting.

Amazing Art

On top of some pretty interesting story potential, the manga has some amazing artwork. As we’ve mentioned above the mangaka did work with Atsushi Ōkubo as an editor and assistant so it makes sense that her artwork would be amazing (just look at Ōkubo’s)!

All the characters have a distinct look and you can clearly tell exactly what each location is just from the background alone. And it’s not just the panels that are amazingly well-drawn, the double-page spreads spare no detail, and are all drawn perfectly. If you want to see what I’m talking about just check out the first chapter! That alone has 72 pages of breathtaking art, two of which are the amazing double-page spreads I’ve mentioned!

Where To Read

Unfortunately, there is no official translation of Gachi Akuta available online as of now. However, You can buy and preview the latest chapters of the series and more officially on KodanshaComics. Doing so greatly supports the author and allows them to give us more chapters of this amazing series.

But before you click off, let us know in the comments below, will you be checking out this series yourself?
