Haikyuu fans, get ready for some epic volleyball action! The first part of the two-movie finale of the beloved sports anime has just released a stunning new trailer at the Haikyu!! event at Jump Festa 2024.
The movie, titled Haikyuu!! Final: The Battle of the Garbage Dump, which is the first of the two final films, will hit the big screens in Japan on February 16, 2024. The international release date for the film is yet to be announced.
The trailer gives us a glimpse of the fierce rivalry between Karasuno High and Nekoma High, the two schools that are known as the “cats and crows” of the volleyball world.
The movie will adapt the final arc of the manga series by Haruichi Furudate, which follows the teams as they clash in the national tournament and face each other in the long-awaited “battle of the garbage dump.”
The trailer also features the movie’s theme song, “orange” by SPYAIR, a rock band that has previously rocked the opening songs for the Haikyuu anime series.
The movie’s staff and cast remain the same as the previous seasons, with Susumu Mitsunaka as the director, Takahiro Kishida as the character designer, and Production I.G as the animation studio.
In case you are not aware, Haikyuu is a sports anime that revolves around Shoyo Hinata, a short but passionate volleyball player who dreams of becoming like his idol, the “Little Giant”.
He joins the Karasuno High volleyball team and forms a formidable duo with Tobio Kageyama, a genius setter who was once his rival. Together, they lead their team to challenge the strongest opponents and aim for the top.
Haikyuu has been one of the most popular and acclaimed anime series in recent years, winning multiple awards and gaining a loyal fanbase. The anime has four seasons so far, all of which are available to stream on Crunchyroll. The second part of the movie finale, Haikyuu!! Final: The Promised Land, is expected to release later in 2024.
