Fans of the popular anime series Chainsaw Man have eagerly anticipated news of the second season’s release date. Still, it seems like Studio Mappa has completely shut down any discussion about it. Many fans, like myself, prefer to watch the anime instead of reading the manga, and the wait for new Chainsaw Man anime content has been excruciatingly long.
However, there is a glimmer of hope for those who are craving more of this dark and action-packed series. Studio Mappa has recently released the main trailer for their new anime series, Jigokuraku, also known as Hell’s Paradise. From what we can see in the trailer, the animation looks fantastic and we can expect some high-quality action scenes, as is typical of Mappa.
As a fan of Chainsaw Man, the Jigokuraku anime trailer piqued my interest, and I decided to read a few initial chapters of the manga. Upon reading it, I found that the series has a similar tone and style to both Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen. In fact, the three series are even known as the “dark trio” of Shonen manga. What’s more, the creator of Hell’s Paradise, Yuji Kaku, was actually an assistant to Tatsuki Fujimoto, the mangaka behind Chainsaw Man, and Fujimoto’s influence can be seen in Kaku’s writing. The art style of Hell’s Paradise is also similar to that of Chainsaw Man, and the violence in the story is just as intense, if not more so.
For those who are eagerly awaiting more anime content from the Chainsaw Man universe, Jigokuraku offers a promising substitute until the second season arrives. The series is set to release on April 1, 2023, and will be available on both Crunchyroll and Netflix, so mark your calendars and get ready for some more intense and action-packed anime.
