Every anime season, anime fans get to watch some incredible shows and Spring 2022 was no exception. Majority of Spring shows like Kaguya Sama: Love Is War, and Spy x Family won the hearts of many anime fans, there were few shows like The Rising of the Shield Hero season 2, and Skeleton Knight In Another world, that didn’t impress a lot of fans.
Summer 2022 looks really promising with some popular anime series, making a comeback. Here are out top 20 most anticipated anime series ranked. Also, you should check out what are the most anticipated summer anime according to Japanese anime fans.
1. OVERLORD SEASON 4
Starting of the Top 20 Summer anime list with an isekai anime series titled “Overlord”. The series follows a gamer Otaku who gets stuck in a game world with his game avatar and all the abilities. The game NPCs begins to develop minds of their own, so the MC decided to put his skill to use as the game’s new Overlord. Overlord season 4 trailer is already out. The anime series has a rating of 7.92/10 on MyAnimeList.
2. Rent a Girlfriend
Despite “Rent a Girlfriend” manga series going through a lot of controversies, it won’t be wrong to say that the 2nd season is still one of the most anticipated anime of Summer 2022. Rent a Girlfriend season 1 has a rating of 7.2/10 on MAL. Season 2 trailer is already out.
Kinoshita Kazuya is a 20-year-old failure of a college student. He managed to kiss his girlfriend once, but was dumped after a month. “Ugh… Damn it. 3. Devil Is A Part-Timer
Many years after the first season was released, this isekai anime is finally making a return. Devil is a Part-timer season 1 is rated 7.78/10 on MyAnimeList. Watch the trailer for the second season here.

4. Made In Abyss 2
Made in Abyss is one of those anime that can’t be judged by just seeing the character design of the series. In fact, this fantasy series even surprised Hajime no Ippo author who initially thought that this series would be a fun adventure anime. The season 1 is rated 8.7/10 on MAL. The series has also gotten an anime film titled “Made in Abyss: Dawn of the deep soul”. Danmachi or “Is it wrong to pick up girls in Dungeon?” is another returning series that has become popular in Fantasy-romance genre. The first season is rated 7.56/10 on MyAnimeList. Danmachi season 4 trailer has been released.
In Orario, fearless adventurers band together in search of fame and fortune within the monstrous underground labyrinth known as the Dungeon. But while riches and renown are incentive enough for most, Bell Cranel, would-be hero extraordinaire, has bigger plans. He wants to pick up girls.
6. Classroom of the Elite Season 2
If you don’t know about Classroom of the Elite, what have you been doing all this time? The first season was released 5 years ago, and it is rated 7.86 on MAL. Watch the trailer for season 2 here.

7. Call of the Night
Now that we have gone through most of the sequel that are releasing this season, let us start with a Supernatural anime series which involves vampires. Call of the Night anime will be based on the manga of the same name, which is rated 7.98/10 on MAL. The trailer for the anime series has been released, and it will be animated by LidenFilms studio.
Nanakusa is a vampire. That’s okay with human Ko. He wants to be one too. But transformation doesn’t come that easily. When Nazuna invites Ko to spend the night at her place in an abandoned building, he awakens to kisses on his neck with a little too much bite to them. Then, when a cute girl from Yamori’s past shows up and competes for his attention, his budding relationship with the undead is put to the test.
8. When Will Ayumu Make His Move?
Every anime season has at least 1 good romance anime. In spring, the spot was filled by Kaguya Sama anime, and it looks like “When will Ayumu Make his Move?” is probably the series that will fill the spot this season. Yaotome’s the cute president of the shogi (Japanese chess) club at her high school, and she’s pretty sure that her underclassman Ayumu, the only other member, has a huge crush on her. They get together to play shogi every day after school, but no matter what she does, she can’t seem to coax or trick him into confessing his feelings! What she doesn’t know is that Ayumu has made a pact with himself to reveal his love after he’s beaten Yaotome at shogi for the first time. Yet there’s one big issue with this plan…he really sucks!
9. My Stepmom’s Daughter Is My Ex-girlfriend
Despite having a little bit of weird titled, the story is actually quite wholesome romance-comedy. The manga series is rated 6.98/10 on MAL. The trailer for the series has been released.

What was supposed to be a sanctuary of peace where I could avoid ever seeing her again has become a living nightmare! Everywhere I look, I see her—in my house, in my school, in my class. There’s no escape! She even claims that she’s the older sibling. Like hell she is! But I won’t lose to her. After all, I’m the older brother in this new family situation. That’s right, we’re family now. No matter how much we may have thought we loved each other before, we saw one another’s true colors and realized we weren’t meant for each other. That’s why even though we may keep up a buddy-buddy sibling act for the sake of our parents, things will never go back to the way they used to be.
10. My Isekai Life
A new anime season without a new isekai getting released is not possible. In fact, 1 in 5 anime that were released in 2021, belonged to the isekai genre. My Isekai Life anime is based on the manga, which is rated 6.82 on MAL. Watch the trailer for My Isekai Life.

11. Harem In the Labyrinth of Another World
If you are a fan of Echhi-harem series, you are going to love this show. It is expected that the series is going to be full of fan service. Highschool Dxd fans are surely going to appreciate this series a little more.

He uses his powers to become an adventurer, earn money, and get the right to claim girls that have idol-level beauty to form his very own harem
12. Vermeil In God
After seeing the visual, some fans will be thinking that this going to be a harem anime. Although, the series is going to have lots of kissing scenes, but not much else. Watch the anime trailer.
Alto Goldfield is a student at a magical academy who aims to become a master of all magic. However, when he is on the verge of failing a class on summoning magic and in danger of being held back a year, he finds an old summoning Grimoire. Following its instructions, he inscribes a magic circle, and ends up summoning a powerful demon named Vermeil, who was sealed long ago, and makes her his familiar. However, the voluptuous Vermeil occasionally requires magical energy from Alto, which she claims by kissing him deeply.
13. Shadow House Season 2
The first season of Shadow House anime scored 7.75/10 on MAL. Although, the series is not for everyone, but it has gathered a lot of new fans over time. Watch the trailer for season 2.

14. Engage Kiss
An original anime series from studio A-1 Pictures, the same studio which has animated Kaguya Sama: Love Is War, Sword Art Online, and many more hit anime series. As this is going to be an original anime, we don’t know much about the plot of the series. Watch the trailer for this anime.
The story is set in a mega floating city which was created after the discovery of new energy sources. A young man named Shuu has a small shop in the area. Due to Shuu’s reckless spending, he leads a meager life. Kisara is a high school girl who does any kind of work as a time part time job. Kisara also worked with Shuu, she is worried about him. Another girl, Ayano who is Shuu’s ex girlfriend is also worried about him. The story is a love triangle taking place on a floating island.
15. Uncle From Another World
What happens when an isekai’d main character gets back to his own world after spending decades in the magical world. Uncle from Another World is a story that explores this idea.
