There are various factors that contribute to a manga series being adapted into an anime, such as its popularity, a captivating storyline, potential profitability, availability for licensing, and perhaps most importantly, the willingness of the author. The existence of a compelling story is one reason why a 40-year-old anime will be receiving a new adaptation. However, not all manga series are adapted into anime, and to address this, Japan conducts polls to guide the anime industry on which manga to prioritize.
In Japan, there is a poll called “The Manga We Want To See Animated” which reveals the manga series that Japanese fans are most eager to see adapted into anime. The latest results from the “6th Manga We Want To See Animated Ranking” have recently been released.
Please note that since these rankings are specific to Japan, the manga series featured on the list may not have English publications. Therefore, if you reside outside of Japan, you may not be familiar with any of these manga series.
In the latest poll, 92 manga series were included, and fans enthusiastically voted for their favorites. The poll was active from January 20 to February 3, 2023. Furthermore, the authors of each winning manga expressed their gratitude to the readers through the polling website, underscoring the significance of these rankings.
